Review from a Japanese web page.
Not only the two rehearsal recordings of “BACK TO THE LIGHT TOUR” but also another “cozy tape” have been discovered.
The source material for this work is a TDK SA90 cassette, but instead of an index, it has just "B.M." scrawled on it. This cassette first appeared in 2002, and was the earliest discovered among the "cozy tapes." It was a shocking work that spread the name of "Cozy Tape" with its tremendous quality and dazzling preciousness.

This work is also a rehearsal for “BACK TO THE LIGHT TOUR”, but of course the content is completely different. This work records an earlier rehearsal lasting about 46 minutes. When it first appeared in 2002, there were some parts that were difficult to listen to, such as cut points and noise, but this work is different. The original cassette was re-digitized and the noise was further corrected through mastering. It's a definitive edition with a sound that allows you to concentrate on the performance sound and the mood in the rehearsal room without feeling any discomfort. The quality is still top notch.
The vivid drum sound, the thick guitar, the closed-door feel of the rehearsal room... all of this is vacuum-packed with a crystal clear atmosphere. The flavor of this work is the documentary feel that can only be found in the early days. There are some songs that he has already mastered completely, but there is a sense of fumbling in his performance. What's even more fun is the conversations between songs.
The volume is low compared to the performance sound, so it's hard to hear the details, but that voice is definitely Brian's, and it's cozy. Hero is exchanging words with trial plays and enthusiastic performances.
The 5th track is especially surprising. The voice you hear here is Roger Taylor (who probably came to visit the studio)! He and Koji were chatting happily. The two have known each other as friends for a long time, but the two old and new drummers met for Brian's restart... The peaceful atmosphere alone is deeply moving. Also, the sound check after the famous song “Resurrection” is interesting.
After a few sample notes, Cozy playfully plays the intro to his solo hit "Dance With The Devil." It seems that they are more famous in the UK than they think in Japan, and the members and people involved in this studio are laughing. Then, the rehearsal turned to QUEEN's famous songs "Tie Your Mother Down" and "Hammer To Fall." When the famous song, which has been reborn as powerful with Koji's drumming, ends, the studio staff erupts in cheers and applause.
Now we have experienced Brian & Cozy's live performance, but at that time, not only the people involved, but even the artists themselves had no idea how it would turn out. This work is filled with the joy of witnessing such splendor, and is even moving.
Three "cozy tapes" vacuum-packed with the finest sound from precious rehearsals. This luxurious set lets you get everything at once.
Brian was planning to stand on his own as a solo artist while inheriting the QUEEN sound, while Cozy and Neil Murray supported his friend's comeback with all their might. A superb record that allows you to share the same space with such heroes.
