Usually, a demo sound source is a master (or a copy) recorded in a studio that is leaked as a tape, but this work is different. It was released at the fan club convention held in Mablethorpe in 2018. It was recorded by a fan who attended the venue where the tape was made. In other words, the performance itself is a demo sound source made in the studio, but at the same time it is an audience recording. Of course, the sound quality is superb. The original demo tape itself is probably in pretty good condition, but unlike the audience recordings at a loud live venue, the performance flows clearly in a transparent atmosphere. Although it is in principle an "audience recording", the impression when actually listening to it is "a demo sound source with a little noise from the venue". Nine treasure versions of musically enjoyable songs Of course, the biggest point of this work is the alternative versions of the masterpieces . Let's briefly introduce each take. Mustapha (takes 6-10) Although there is a little scat, it is basically a backing track without singing. Five takes were redone in the middle and put together in 5 minutes Fat Bottomed Girls (alternate vocal, unedited backing track) Although it starts with a squealing sound, it is a very complete take. The vocals are different, and the sound quality and atmosphere make you feel like you are listening to a live performance. Jealousy (different take of bed tracks) Piano and bass backing track. There is a voice muttering something, but it is basically an instrumental. The playfulness when the performance is cut off in the middle of the performance also gives a nice feeling of the atmosphere of the studio. Bicycle Race (five takes) The lyrics were not yet written, so this version is sung in scat. However, the song and arrangement are quite complete, and it might have been interesting to have completed it as it was, like FOCUS. The second half was redone with an instrumental, but if you listen closely, you can hear the audience singing along in places. This take also has a fun convention mood. If You Can't Beat Them (alternate vocal) This is also a highly polished take, but with different vocals. These takes do not feel half-made, and it feels like QUEEN is performing live on site. Let Me Entertain You (takes 5-7) A demo of about three minutes with three redoes. While the arrangement itself is pretty much solidified, the lyrics are still incomplete and the rest of the song is hummed scat. Dead On Time (takes 27-28) A three-minute demo with a fairly fragmented "take 27" and a solidly performed "take 28". The scene at the beginning where the performance falls apart caused laughter at the convention. This work is a valuable studio album, but it is also a convention experience album. Fun It (alternate vocal, Roger only) Although this work is a demo, there are many takes that can be enjoyed as different versions with high degree of completion, but the most wonderful one is "Fun It". It is almost complete, but only Roger sings. It is a good work that could have been included in the album in this version. Don't Stop Me Now (alternate vocal) The last song is the very moving "Don't Stop Me Now". This is also a take with different vocals, but it is musically complete and fun like a live performance. It concludes the album with a lot of uplifting feeling. A clear remastered version that approaches the studio sound to the limit. The above 9 takes were released at the convention. The first half of this work is recorded as it was recorded, but the second half contains a remastered version of the same sound source. It was released by a collector who released the sound source, and it is likely that the aim was to "get closer to the studio sound". In fact, the sound is vivid and clear. The hall echo of the venue is suppressed as much as possible, and the contours of each sound stand out beautifully. Although it does not fully reproduce the sound of the studio recording itself, it is a masterpiece version that allows you to clearly feel the fine details of the demo performance.
