Review from
facebook Here's something that first saw the light of day earlier this month, three weeks ago, at the Dutch Fan Club convention in Maassluis, which was held at the "Theater Koningshof". A 10" record aptly named "A Day At The Theatre", containing excerpts of Queen's show in Rotterdam, May 17th 1977, from the A Day At The Races tour. This comes in two variations: - 250 copies "VIP" edition, given out to VIP ticket holders. White-yellow-orange splatter vinyl with colour cover, comes with an additional b/w photograph, 8" in size. - 50 copies "Team" edition, given out to the crew and guests, and the copy shown here auctioned in the evening. Black and white cover, black and white splatter vinyl, no additional photo for this one. This sounds ok for a recording nearly fifty years old. Not brilliant quality, but definetly "listenable". I've heard a few comments complaining online about this, some say the photo is the wrong era. True, but I don't really mind that. Some others say the sleeve is AI generated. I have no opinion on that, it may be, it may not, but if it is, it's definetly not the worst one I've seen. There's only one issue I have with this ... each of the songs fades in at the beginning and out at the end. If setlist.fm is to be believed, this contains tracks no. 10,8,13 and 11 of the show on Side A, and tracks 1,14 and 4 on side B. I do not like cutting a live recording into pieces, and releasing them out of sequence even less so. Especially having 10+11 and 13+14 not following each other continuously seems very odd. Still, it's a nice collector's item, so I'm happy with both editions. Anybody got one of these out there?
