Review from Internet page.

“JAZZ TOUR” that gave birth to “LIVE KILLERS” and “CRAZY TOUR” known for its excellent performance. A valuable live album that recorded the one and only show that existed in the meantime appears.
The precious show is “Saarbrücken performance on August 18, 1979”. Audience recording when performing at the West German music festival “SAARBRUCKEN OPEN AIR”. What was the relationship between this festival and the two tours? First, let's check the position from the schedule at that time.

・ October 28-December 20: North America (35 performances)
・ January 17-March 1: Europe (28 performances)
・ April 13-May 6: Japan (15 performances)
 《June 22 “LIVE KILLERS” 2LP/ MC release》
・ August 18: SAARBRUCKEN OPEN AIR appearance ← ★ This work ★
[October 5: Single "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" released]
・ November 22-December 26: UK (20 performances)

This is QUEEN in the “JAZZ TOUR” and “CRAZY TOUR” era. “LIVE KILLERS” was produced from the “European” leg in 1979, and “JAZZ TOUR” was completed after the performance in Japan. At the end of the year, a “CRAZY TOUR” was performed for the single “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, and there was only one performance in the meantime. TEN YEARS LATER, Rory Gallagher, MOLLY HATCHET, THE COMMODORES, etc. appeared in this festival, but QUEEN was the headliner.

This work, which recorded such a show, has an overwhelming realism. Although this recording has been known for a long time, it has only remained between core collectors and has not generally circulated. The super rare master that such people know is finally open to the public. A messy story is a type where preciousness is a priority, but that is not the kind of roaring or explosive sound. The recording itself is very neat and there are no elements that can hurt your ears. However, it is far from the stage. For that purpose, the atmosphere of the venue is drawn in a large size, and it is a type of recording that enjoys the mood rather than the performance.
However, the show that can be heard on the scene is amazing. The essence is based on “JAZZ TOUR”, but the sprouting of “CRAZY TOUR” appears and disappears everywhere. First, set. Let's organize it in comparison with “LIVE KILLERS”.

・ Killer Queen / Now I'm Here
● A NIGHT AT THE OPERA (5 songs)
・ Death On Two Legs / I'm In Love With My Car / You're My Best Friend / Love Of My Life / Bohemian Rhapsody
● A DAY AT THE RACES (2 songs)
・ Tie Your Mother Down
・ Songs you can't listen to in "LIVE KILLERS": Somebody To Love
● NEWS OF THE WORLD (6 songs)
・ We Will Rock You (fast) /Get Down Make Love/Spread Your Wings /Sheer Heart Attack /We Will Rock You /We Are The Champions
● JAZZ (3 songs)
・ Let Me Entertain You
・ Songs you can't listen to in "LIVE KILLERS": If You Can't Beat Them / Mustapha
● Other (2 songs)
・ Keep Yourself Alive 「QUEEN」
・ Songs you can't listen to at LIVE KILLERS: Jailhouse Rock

... and it looks like this. Numbers that cannot be heard in “LIVE KILLERS” are set in 4 songs. “Somebody To Love”, “If You Can't Beat Them” and “Jailhouse Rock” were not chosen for the official board, but there were days to play on tour, but the point is “Mustapha”. In “LIVE KILLERS” we sang a little with a cappella for the introduction of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, but here we performed with a band performance for about 2 minutes (the audience is pleased with “Oh, Mustapha”). It is the prototype after that.
More than such a set, “CRAZY TOUR” reminds me of Freddie! “CRAZY TOUR” is best known for Freddie ’s success every night. I think that the ensemble is awkward only for a single show that is not a tour, but rather the reverse. If Nodo is really good and sharp, the singing will grow. Whether it was inspired by Freddie or whether I was so happy that I was released from the studio for the first time in three months, the whole band was high in tension. This work is a live album that listens to QUEEN through the audience, but its excellent performance is also a sound that can be clearly understood.

It ’s great just for the full show, but the other one is the last thing to listen to. As usual, it ’s a big excitement with “We Are The Champions” and it ’s concluded with “God Save The Queen”. You can hear strange noise there, but according to one theory, Roger destroyed the drum kit. In fact, Roger on this day was very bad. The day before I tried to dye blonde hair, it failed and (for some reason) my hair was green. The person himself said, “It was the most embarrassing experience in my life,” but the monitor was also not good during the show. The frustration accumulated in the pool and was cut off.

Freddie is in a great condition, and it is a great performance with a sense of openness that has left the studio. It is a live album that allows you to experience precious shows that are a bit different from the World Tour with real sounds. Although it cannot be said that it is for beginners, it is a very rare must-hear board that conveys the irresistible charm to the enthusiastic mania. Please enjoy this opportunity carefully.
